Akiptan Inc. is a Native American Community Development Financial Institution that supports Native Agriculture producers throughout Indian Country. Akiptan Inc. is committed to supporting the next generation of Native Agriculture Stewards and is pleased to announce our Okhíčhaŋye (O-KHICHAN-YE - The Lakota word cultivation) Scholarship. Native American high school seniors pursuing a degree that will support the native agriculture industry are encouraged to apply. Eleven (11) scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $5,000.00. 


Award amount: $5,000.00 

Scholarship opens: January 3rd, 2022

Scholarship application HAS CLOSED: March 30th, 2022 at 4:00 pm MST

Application review time frame: April 1st, 2022 - April 22nd, 2022  

Notification of awards: Late April / Early May 2022



  1. Students must be Native American high school seniors graduating in the Spring of 2022 and attending college in the Fall of 2022. 

  2. Must be pursuing a degree that will be used in the agriculture industry. This can include but is not limited to animal science, agriculture business, agriculture economics, horticulture, etc. 

  3. Must submit Tribal citizenship documents or proof of descent of a federally or state-recognized American Indian tribe, Alaska Native Village or Native Hawaiin or Pacific Islander or descendant of Pacific Islander within the United States. 

  4. Demonstrate a commitment to the Native agriculture community.
